The Florida Department of Education is the state education agency of Florida. It governs public education and manages funding and testing for local educational agencies.
SEDNET
The Multiagency Network for Students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities (SEDNET) creates and facilitates a network of key stakeholders committed to assisting in the provision of a quality system of care for students with or at-risk of emotional and/or behavioral disabilities (E/BD). This is accomplished through an ongoing collaboration and partnership among professionals and families in the education, social services, mental health, substance abuse, child welfare, and juvenile justice systems serving children and youth with and at-risk of E/BD. The targeted population for the project are students identified with emotional/behavioral disabilities, ranging in ages from 3 to 22 years of age.Services:
- Training and technical assistance provided for schools, community agencies, and families in the areas of Trauma Informed Care, Youth Mental Health First Aid, and other mental/behavioral health topics.
- Direct Service to families through connection to treatment providers who offer individual, family and/or medical services for students and families.
- Advocating for priorities regarding issues related to students with emotional/behavioral disabilities and their families
