IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) are skills and attitudes that allow students to learn how to learn. They are based on inquiry, conceptual understanding, local and global contexts, teamwork, collaboration, differentiation, and assessment. They include five skill categories: communication, social, self-management, research, and thinking. They aim to transform students and schools as they learn, through dynamic cycles of inquiry, action, and reflection.
