• Eligibility 10th and 11th grade students with a GPA of 3.5 unweighted, the national average, will receive an invitation letter with their application and process directions. Potential candidates are invited in the spring semester.

     

    Leadership refers not only to elective offices held in school and outside organizations but also factors such as:

    • Initiative in promoting school activities
    •  Influence on peers in upholding school ideals
    •  Positive attitudes
    •  Dependability in any responsibility accepted

     

    Service includes participation in activities within or outside the school that help those in need. NHS considers your dependability, sacrifice, ability to work well with others, and humility.

     

    Character is evaluated from both a positive and negative point of view. A successful candidate must:

    • Have an outstanding attendance record (minimum 95% average daily attendance)
    • Demonstrate the highest standards of honesty and reliability
    • Show courtesy, concern, and respect for others
    • Observe instructions and rules, punctuality, and faithfulness both inside and outside the classroom
    • Consistently exemplify desirable qualities of behavior
