School History

  • Construction of Summerfield Elementary began in August 1990 after the U.S. Home Corporation generously provided the school district with a 15-acre lot. Named after the surrounding Summerfield community, our campus remains a vibrant hub for learning in the Riverview area. Originally, our mascot was the Indian, inspired by our sister school, East Bay High School. However, out of respect for Native American cultures, we proudly became the Summerfield Sharks during the 2019-2020 school year. Our school colors—navy, gray, and teal—reflect our strong and spirited identity.

Summerfield Elementary serves students from Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, with an enrollment of approximately 950 students. We provide a diverse and engaging curriculum designed to meet the needs of all learners. In addition to our general education program, we offer Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services, including programs for Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, Gifted students, Speech and Language support, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Intellectual Disabilities for students who meet eligibility requirements.
