Jim Smyth is an accomplished soccer coach with over 40 years of experience developing young talent and leading teams to success on national and international levels. Jim Smyth brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of nurturing skilled athletes and fostering a winning team culture.
Jim Smyth's coaching philosophy centers on holistic player development, emphasizing technical skills, tactical awareness, and mental resilience. He believes strongly in coaching through positive reinforcement to help players develop the fundamental knowledge of the game and the skill and confidence to apply it on the field.
During his years of playing and coaching soccer, Jim has earned licenses and certifications from NSCAA Advanced National, USSF B License, Goalkeeping Level 1, & CPR Certification.
Coach Jim was a Northeast Regional Player Recruiter in New York who worked for the Academies in California and Florida. Jim identified elite players and offered roster spots for 3-week tours on the international stage. Jim Smyth has led multiple teams to compete in renowned international tournaments, providing players with invaluable exposure to diverse playing styles. Jim coordinated tryouts and selected top players in the northeastern country to compete in a high level of soccer in Europe. Coach Smyth led teams in prestigious international tournaments in CUP#1 (Denmark), Dana Cup (Denmark), Gothia Cup (Sweden), & Manchester Cup (England).
Olympic Development Program (ODP) New York. During his time with ODP, Jim has coached an array of teams and ages. This extensive ODP experience demonstrates Jim Smyth's expertise in advanced player development techniques and his commitment to elevating and developing numerous players who have gone on to compete at collegiate and professional levels. Coach Jim has led various high school soccer teams in Long Island and Florida. He is very excited to bring his extensive experience and looks forward to the inaugural Girls Soccer.
