Our school social workers support and advocate for students' social, emotional, and behavioral well-being within the school environment. They are not just school social workers, but also mentors, advisors, and more!
A variety of services are available to support individuals and families in different areas:
- Acting as a link between the school, family, and community agencies
- Providing outreach services to students, parents, and families - Referring and assisting families in accessing community, medical, mental health, and social welfare services
- Coordinating services with other agencies to create a comprehensive service delivery system
- Consulting with teachers, administrators, and others to provide insight into students' needs and behavior
- Conducting a comprehensive diagnostic assessment of a child's social, emotional, and interpersonal relationships within the school, home, and community
- Serving on the Problem-Solving Leadership Team at each school to assist students facing various challenges
- Participating in meetings with school personnel, parents, and community agency staff for coordinated evaluation and planning
- Advocating for the rights of the child and family
- Providing and participating in training programs
- Promoting understanding and sensitivity to multicultural values and traditions
- Being an active participant in professional social work organizations
