- Students must have held a valid Florida learner’s license for at least 3 months at the time of registration. The Florida learner’s license number will be required to be entered at the time of registration. Each Florida learner’s license will be verified. Students who do not meet this requirement will be unenrolled without a refund.
-
Program Cost (Non-Refundable)Â
- $300 per student (non-refundable).
- Payment is due at the time of registration.
- A non-refundable service fee is also charged by the registration website.
-
What is Included?

- Small class sizes for a better learning experience (15:1 student-teacher ratio).
- Certificate of completion (which may qualify for an insurance discount – check with your provider) for students who attend every class in their session.
- Behind-the-wheel experience:
Students will practice driving behind the wheel.
Students will also ride in the vehicle while others are driving.
All vehicles are equipped with a passenger-side brake for safety.
Students must bring their Florida learner’s license to class every day to participate in driving activities.
Students who do not have their Florida learner’s license with them will not be allowed to drive.
-
Will Students Take the Driving Test to get Their License?Â
- Students may be offered the opportunity to take the Class E skills/driving test for their driver license if they have held their Florida learner’s license for at least one year (12 months) or are 18 years of age.
- To be eligible for testing, students must bring a copy or photo of their birth certificate and Social Security number to their teacher.
FLHSMV regulations prohibit testing for students without a Social Security number. Those students will have to take the test at the Tax Collector office.
- Taking the test is not guaranteed. Teachers reserve the right to withhold testing at their discretion.
Students who take and pass the test must visit the Tax Collector’s office to obtain their actual driver license. Hillsborough County Public Schools cannot guarantee the issuance of a driver license, even if the student passes the test. The FLHSMV Retesting Statement states “The Department may re-examine a random sample of the drivers approved by the Driver Education Administrator for licensure. The Driver Education Administrator does not issue driver licenses and cannot guarantee the issuance of a driver license nor in any way influence the Department in the issuance of a driver license.”
