Target Audience: The target audience is any internal employee with a Masters, Specialist, or Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration or Supervision and Administration who would like to apply for Assistant Principal Vacancies in Hillsborough County Public Schools. This process is strictly for school based leadership positions.
Administrative Selection Application Timeline

Information Sessions will be held at the Instructional Services Center, 2920 North 40th Street, Tampa, Florida, 33605 on August 27, 2025.
All applicants should attend an information session.
Future Leaders Academy Timeline

- August 27, 2025: Attend a district-facilitated information session to discuss the standards, program requirements, and the application process
- September 18, 2025: Applications are due by 3:00 pm on September 18, including essays, yearly evaluation data, and two standards-based references, an outcomes-based resume, and a Florida Certificate.
- September 15 to October 20, 2025: Administrative Selection Screenings which consist of role play scenarios and standards-based questions.
- November 3, 2025: The Future Leaders Academy begins.
- September 15, 2025: Future Leaders Academy participants graduate.
Internal Applicants (Current Employees):

To be placed in the administrative pool for site-based leadership positions, applicants must complete the Administrative Screening Process and be accepted into the Future Leaders Academy.
To be eligible to apply to FLA you must:
- Be currently employed with HCPS
- Attend an information session
- Complete three years of successful teaching experience
- Hold a Masters, Specialist, or Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration or Supervision and Administration (and possess certification on your Florida professional certificate)
- Complete all testing including all portions of the FELE exam (Florida Educational Leadership Examination)
STEP - 1: Attend an Information Session:
All applicants should attend an information session in order to understand the application process.
STEP - 2: Gather and complete required documents/information:
In anticipation of the online application period, gather the items listed below.
- PDF file of your TF 1210 Evaluation Summary for school year 2022 - 2023
(including VAM) - PDF file of your TF 1210 Evaluation Summary for school year 2023 - 2024
(including VAM) - A copy of your Florida teaching certificate indicating you have Educational Leadership, Administration or Supervision and Administration Certification
- A copy of your updated outcomes-based resume
STEP – 3 : Complete part 1 of an online application in Forms
Part 1:
Part 1 of the Administrative Screening process is the online application. The link to the online application in Forms will be sent to the applicant when the application period is open.
In order to prepare, candidates should review the standards-based rubric. Screening questions, reference forms, and role plays will be based on these standards.
Part 2:
Once the online applications and references are reviewed, select applicants will be invited to screen for Future Leader Academy (FLA). FLA is a six-month leadership preparation program which includes coursework, job-embedded activities, and a 30-day entry plan. After successful acceptance into the program, candidates will be placed in Hillsborough’s Administrative Pool. The applicant’s screening score is valid for 5 years.
Candidates who have served as Assistant Principals or Principals in another district are expected to go through the administrative screening process and may be waived from the FLA program. Participation in the pre-service program will be determined on a case-by-case basis depending on previous experience and the ability of participants to meet the standards during the screening process.
